Ramlet al Bayda is the last public beach in Beirut, Lebanon. The project started from the idea of maintaining the rights to have public spaces and the accessibility of the public spaces for the handicapped people.

Voice of Ramlet al Bayda

Voice of Ramlet Al Bayda is a singing project, which will be presented and created by the artists in residence in Beirut. The lyrics of the songs will be developed from the stories of residents. When the stories are collected within the deadline, they wll be re-written as lyrics, and will be sung by the arists in residence on the event day.

We chose it to be the singing event, because song can be sung by anyone, is nondisposable, and is inerasable. We thought such properties of music can be developed as the campaign for last public beach in Beirut. Singing can bring greater impact by gathering all the people together.

This booklet acts like an information book about the South Bank and River Thames, while it collects the stories of the users by drawing and it encourages them to feel the space to learn the value and the ownership of the public space.
